The Importance of Being Fully You

By Amber Samaya © 2022

There is a hunger for being

The kind of being that comes from

Essence

From connection

And interconnection

Being like seasons

Coming full circle

Again and again,

Swirling and twirling in your

Changes,

The grace and promise of cycle,

The life death life again nature

That you can trust

Being like a quest

Where meaning is made

Courage is accessed

Strength is required

Muscles grow

And the mountaintop is reached

Through the good kind of hard

That gets you where you

Ache to go.

The travail of birth

The powerful softening

That brings the gift through you

Being fully expressed,

Like the song of the seed,

Unfolding just as you are made to unfold

Just as you KNOW KNow KNOW you can unfold

No alterations or added ingredients needed

Just the right conditions for growth

The good soil,

The sun and the rain,

The compost

A gentle pruning now and again,

Yes, being like that seed

That just surrenders to becoming.

Why this need to BE who we really are?

Why does it feel so relentlessly important?

Why this persistent tug,

This Deep call, this gravitational

Sometimes painful pull toward

Our Soul Work?

That we just

Can’t give up on

No matter how hard,

How long

How far we must go?

Why?

Oh sister, I feel it with you. The question,

And also I feel the answer too.

I have often wondered

In the hard moments,

In the weary times,

If it even matters

In the grand scheme of things

In the Great Unfolding

If I -  little old me, and little old you -

BEING who I really am and being who you really are

REALLY counts?

And then the beauteous intoxicating gracious scent of roses moves into my senses,

I can see them, the roses, out the corner of my eye

These ones have fought to survive two hard summers of heat

Now stronger than ever, content in their well watered containers

Unfolding fully in the mid-summer sun,

And I wonder what the world would be like without roses!

Without the scent of pure grace coming from their petals,

And this scent brings me back to you, and me and us and

This BEING who we really are.

It matters because….

You are a part and not separate.

Creation, created to create.

You are of Earth and remnant of stars,

embodied, gifted with senses,

a festival of matter,

A seedsong all your own,

Manifested in a unique, one of a kind framework,

A portal for life to express its poetry

Its unceasing beauty

A ripple that moves out across the water

A soul touching other souls

A vibration in the web, felt by the web

A conscious being with the ability to make

Such big and important choices that have impact

 That create substance

That bring matter into form

With the ability to know love, to feel it, to gather it,

And share it with the rest of creation.

A collaborator with LIFE, whose medicine basket

Has magic remedies that only YOU being YOU

Being Creative, Being at cause, being fully alive

Fully awake, and fully aware of your impact,

Your value as a member of the collective,

Of the TOTAL value,

Could so intentionally, so consciously,

Create and administer!

My sister, YOU being YOU

Is a scent that the world cannot live without

So, SAY YOUR OWN NAME

Say it daily

Say it now!

(say it with me now)

YOu are a scent the world cannot live without

You are Mattering Matter

You are Life unfolding

You Being You is your

Gift back to Life!

You being you

Is the meaning of your life!

The one that is in your hands,

Your mind,

Your heart,

You consciousness,

You ability to act.

You being YOU

Living your Soul Work,

Is the seed of you unfolding

As you know it can and it must.

Never doubt this.

Never stop saying your own name.

Recall the scent of the rose.

And never underestimate

The Importance

Of BEING

FULLY

YOU

Intentional Creativity Drum Painting

with Shiloh Sophia

A drum is a sacred tool any women leading circle can learn to use and add to her medicine basket. It is now known that in ancient times, it was women who were drummers - drumming to heal, bless, celebrate and initiate! We know that drums are found throughout the entire world and are a cultural universal that all of our ancestors would have used at one time. For this reason, each one of us can develop our own unique relationship with the drum - one that will evolve and be shaped over time as you continue to pick it up and deepen your practice. Playing your drum in circle can be a simple but powerful way to guide journeys, meditations, or a grounding, and without requiring much skill.

In this 2 part video teaching, Shiloh Sophia will introduce you to the drum, and the rhythm that is inherent within you. She will speak of her own relationship to the drum and how it became a deeply important part of her personal practice and space holding. She will lead you on a journey to claim your drum as your own. To connect with it as an extension of your body and a sacred tool of women who call circle. In the Intentional Creativity painting process, you will be guided to access the symbols and images that wanted to come forth and be painted on your drums. Those that are connected to the medicine or truth that wants to be lived into right now on your journey. We hope this will support you in receiving further affirmation of your unique and beautiful personal medicines as you step into circle leadership as an Intentional Creativity Teacher.

Materials: Drum - here's an option for a size we often use, acrylic paints in a rainbow of colors, a few smaller-sized paintbrushes, pencil.

Intuitive Drumsong

Framedrum Lessons with Lavender Grace

Music is my medicine, my story of healing. My offering to you, on your journey, to help you find your medicine within your own song, within your own rhythms.

The song! What calls, what makes your heart truly sing! This is a hand open to hold, as the swoon of life dips you into the holy.

~ Lavender Grace

We are excited to share this Intuitive Drumsong teaching from one of Shiloh Sophia’s dearest friends and collaborators, Lavender Grace Cinnamon. Lavender has brought her song and drum medicine to the Trainings since the Red Thread Training in person inception in 2018.

For many women, the first time you hold a drum in your hands or hear your voice returning in your own ears from its resonant center, something visceral and powerful shifts within. It can feel like an ancient connection. A call home. A sovereign happening.

We encourage you to create sacred time and space to connect with Lavender’s teaching. Find a quiet place where you feel safe to play your drum and practice using your voice. Frame drumming is an ancient art of women and is quite powerful even in its simplest forms. You can consider using your frame drum (or a buffalo drum) in your circles to open, guide a journey, or close the container. It is amazing how deeply women respond to the sound of the drum!

You are an instrument
You are a gift of creation
You are creation
Bringing to life your vessel
You are a creator
co-creating creation
You are a blessed woman
Creating a path of creation for others to walk
to remember who they are
You are a holy vessel
This is holy ground
This is holy sky
We claim our place as women on earth
finding our way.
Remembering who we are
our body as an instrument
